Untreated organic lucuma powder from Peru in raw food quality
Our raw lucuma powder hails from the temperate highlands of Peru. The Peruvian fruits are said to have a more intensive flavor than those from Chile. In English, lucuma is also known as "eggfruit", referring not to its shape, but rather to the texture of its flesh, which is similar to hard-boiled egg-yolk.
The finely ground powder has played an important role in the kitchens of Peru for hundreds of years, and is also known as the "gold of the Incas". As well as its unmistakable taste, a cross between maple syrup and sweet potato, lucuma is also a nutrient-rich fruit. High levels of carotene, calcium, phosphorus, iron, and vitamin B3 (niacin), make it ideal for the support of health and vitality.
In its land of origin, lucuma ranks second place for ice-cream flavors. In addition, the powder is used as a flour-substitute, or mixed with cacao powder, vanilla, and coconut butter for a delicious, creamy dessert.
