ARRIBA NATIONAL Criollo cacao comes from Peru and is grown at high altitude on mineral-rich volcanic mountainsides. The trees are between 30 and 80 years old, and are watered only with fresh rain and mountain spring water.
Our coconuts come from small farmers in Sri Lanka. They are processed into the finest coconut butter here at Naturkostbar, and then mixed with the hazelnuts and cacao.
To round off this fabulous product, we add vanilla and coconut sugar.
Coconut sugar is produced from the sap extracted from the flowers of the coconut palm. Due to the high amount of enzyme activity within the sap, it does not have a long shelf-life when raw. The sap is therefore heated, but in comparison to other sugars contains a high number of minerals, and has a low GI of 35.
Tip: Haselnuss du Chocolate tastes absolutely divine on its own (a spoonful for dessert), spread on fresh and dried bananas or any other fruit, and as a topping for bread, crackers, or crêpes.
Note: This is a natural product without any additives. The consistency may vary from batch to batch. From certain temperatures, sedimentation can occur - that means the raw ingredients seperate from each other. In addition, it can lead to crystallization of the coconut sugar.
If you prefer the smooth consistency, place the jar in a water bath at about 37 degrees Celsius and stir the mass. Then put it in the fridge to get a solid mass.
